The rest of the league will want that one back. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren tumbling to the Bills in the Round 3 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Caldwell proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at Round 3, Pick 27 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
DeMonte Capehart at pick 126 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kaleb Proctor in the 165th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Jeff Caldwell in the 168th pick, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Zavion Thomas in the Round 7 slot, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
