Boards are made to be trusted, and the Commanders shredded theirs for Joe Milton III. He came off 64 spots early, and the room will hear about it. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They did well to land Tyler Guyton in pick No. 36, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Jordan Morgan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Kamari Lassiter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 78th pick, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A reach for Spencer Rattler in slot 100; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Braiden McGregor in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Joe Milton III in Round 5, Pick 16, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A big swing on Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 222, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
