They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Call it a C and check back in two years.
If Okie-Anoma pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
The Odunze pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Hit on Jayden Daniels and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Somehow Rome Odunze was still sitting there in slot 34, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Patrick Paul at the 68th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for Brenden Rice, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy little value on Blake Corum in pick 90, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Ben Sinnott in No. 103 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Trevor Keegan at par in the 137th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Marist Liufau at pick No. 162 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Jaylan Ford at the 180th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
No edge and no loss on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in No. 193; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma in pick No. 231 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
