When the story of this class is written, it opens with Tanner Mordecai at the 242nd overall pick, a reach of 87 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Beebe.
The Cowboys paired the rookies with proven help, Russell Wilson leading the way.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.

In the 12th pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 56 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
McKinnley Jackson at slot 76 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cooper Beebe at pick 87. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid up for Will Shipley at the 125th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
David Ugwoegbu at the 213th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
Tanner Mordecai at the 242nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
