You could see the war room lean forward. Miller Moss at the Round 5 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Emeka Egbuka · WR · rank 12
By-the-book stuff, Emeka Egbuka at the 13th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Jalon Walker · LB-EDGE · rank 32
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 12: Jalon Walker for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 68
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 98 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 83
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 99, where Ollie Gordon II graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.12 · Pick 113 · Sebastian Castro · S · rank 88
Sebastian Castro at the 113th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.10 · Pick 148 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 127
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, DeMonte Capehart in slot 148, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.13 · Pick 151 · Benjamin Morrison · CB · rank 133
Benjamin Morrison in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.31 · Pick 169 · Donovan Edwards · RB · rank 154
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Donovan Edwards in No. 169. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.32 · Pick 170 · Miller Moss · QB · rank 109
Miller Moss at pick 170 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.34 · Pick 172 · Kobe Hudson · WR · rank 159
Value with a capital V on Kobe Hudson in slot 172, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Nick Martin · LB · rank 195
No edge and no loss on Nick Martin in the 188th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Jaydn Ott · RB · rank 202
Jaydn Ott at Round 6, Pick 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.30 · Pick 244 · Aydan White · CB · rank 230
Aydan White is a better player than pick No. 244 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
