The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Josaiah Stewart fell into the Round 7 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 12 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Tre Harris at slot 78 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 148th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jihaad Campbell in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Jahdae Barron here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quinshon Judkins in the 171st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at pick 189. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 209th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
