Dallas Cowboys

Stewart should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B.

The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Josaiah Stewart fell into the Round 7 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In No. 13 they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 17
Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 12 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 23
Tre Harris at slot 78 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Walter Nolen · DT · rank 12
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 148th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 40
Jihaad Campbell in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Jahdae Barron · CB · rank 14
They robbed the room for Jahdae Barron here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.34 · Pick 171 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 74
Quinshon Judkins in the 171st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 13
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at pick 189. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · T.J. Sanders · DT · rank 27
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 209th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Josaiah Stewart · DE-EDGE · rank 42
Circle this one: Josaiah Stewart at No. 248 is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
