Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chargers shredded theirs for Isaac Guerendo. He came off 52 spots early, and the room will hear about it. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Caelen Carson at pick No. 69 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Theo Johnson well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for LaDarius Henderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Andrew Raym in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached a country mile for Isaac Guerendo at slot 223, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, DeMonte Capehart in pick 256 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
