It is the swing that defines the weekend: Zion Logue in slot 223, a good 38 spots before the room expected him.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Thomas Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 24
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 39
By-the-book stuff, T.J. Tampa at the 37th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 28
Taking Brian Thomas Jr. in Round 2, Pick 19 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 46
A safety of that caliber at No. 69 is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 94
Zak Zinter in the 106th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Beaux Limmer · C · rank 143
A wild overpay on Beaux Limmer in pick 125, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 161
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylen Wright well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · AJ Barner · TE · rank 198
The board had cheaper options than AJ Barner at slot 183, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 261
Zion Logue at the 223rd overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.36 · Pick 256 · Eric Gentry · LB · rank 263
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eric Gentry. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
