They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Braelon Allen, 53 picks early at the 106th overall pick. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Landing Franklin that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th overall pick they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had Troy Franklin higher than slot 37, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
T.J. Tampa at No. 45 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jonathon Brooks at Round 3, Pick 5 is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Braelon Allen well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Beaux Limmer at pick No. 139, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Nathan Thomas at par in the 183rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 223 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
