No fireworks, just good process: the Giants sat on their board and let Malik Washington come to them at the Round 5 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nothing to complain about; Byron Murphy II went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 70 with a little surplus value in Jonathon Brooks. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Jamari Thrash was the payoff at Round 4, Pick 7. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jaden Hicks in slot 114 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Malik Washington is a better player than the 143rd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Joe Milton III at No. 185 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Kimani Vidal in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
