The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 32 spots for Jordan Whittington, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Rosengarten makes the weekend a net positive. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Tyler Nubin in No. 24, and that is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
They took Mekhi Wingo at par in slot 70, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Zak Zinter at the 87th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Javon Foster at Round 4, Pick 24, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dwight McGlothern in the 189th pick, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Roger Rosengarten slipping to pick 212 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Jordan Johnson at the 244th pick, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Jordan Whittington, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
