The Giants spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Phillips.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
They did well to land Xavier Legette in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dominick Puni at No. 107 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
James Williams slid further than he should have, and the 143rd overall pick is lovely value for the safety. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Chau Smith-Wade in pick 162 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Andru Phillips slipping to Round 6, Pick 10 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Isaiah Davis at the 197th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
