Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 250 on Fred Davis a full 145 spots early.

However the rest shakes out, Paul Jr. at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · James Pearce Jr. · DE · rank 12
In pick No. 26 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 67
They jumped the gun on Zy Alexander, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · Hollin Pierce · OT · rank 116
A big swing on Hollin Pierce at pick 90, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.32 · Pick 133 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 129
Fair-plus on Jay Higgins, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R6.10 · Pick 185 · Chris Paul Jr. · LB · rank 122
Chris Paul Jr. in Round 6, Pick 10 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Willie Lampkin · OG · rank 182
The board fumbled Willie Lampkin all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 238
Value said wait; Savion Williams in No. 210 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.36 · Pick 250 · Fred Davis · CB · rank 395
Fred Davis in the 250th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
