The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched TreVeyon Henderson slide 100 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Jackson Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a premier pass rusher. More want than need.
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Jalen Royals in pick 87, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dontay Corleone in pick No. 149 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 170 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at the 171st overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
