Some picks age like wine; Isaiah Major at pick No. 241 will need to, sitting 118 spots clear of his grade. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Verse. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Brenden Rice in slot 90 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jarrian Jones. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tanor Bortolini at pick No. 184 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Frank Gore Jr. at Round 6, Pick 23 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Isaiah Major at No. 241 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
