The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Will Howard fell into the 150th overall pick.
They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Omarion Hampton in slot 44 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Deone Walker at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Will Howard in pick No. 150 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jonah Monheim at the 170th overall pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cobee Bryant at pick 172 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Fair-plus on Jack Nelson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
