You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Texans did exactly that with Oronde Gadsden II in No. 158. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Cowing. It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Texans had louder needs to answer first.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
