Thirty-one other rooms let Darius Robinson slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at Round 7, Pick 14. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good price on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 2, Pick 17, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Christian Mahogany in the 92nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Blake Fisher at the 117th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Beau Brade come to them and pounced at slot 126. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No edge and no loss on Ben Sinnott in No. 154; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Darius Robinson at pick No. 234 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 238 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
