The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Ollie Gordon II, the Round 7 slot, roughly 67 picks past where he belonged. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Savaiinaea pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Jonah Savaiinaea at pick 25 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Demetrius Knight Jr. in Round 3, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Barrett Carter at the 90th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at the Round 4 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Billy Bowman Jr. at slot 165 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Somehow Ollie Gordon II was still sitting there in No. 241, and they pounced on premier running back value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
