The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Mike Washington Jr., the No. 73 name on the board, sitting there at slot 107 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Olaivavega Ioane in Round 1, Pick 22 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good price on CJ Allen in slot 38, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Lee Hunter at the Round 2 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Jake Slaughter, who had no business lasting to the 69th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Mike Washington Jr. still on the board at the 107th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
