The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ricky White III, the No. 206 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 25.
They are betting Skattebo proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Adding Chris Jones by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
They reached a country mile for Cam Skattebo at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jack Bech at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Darius Alexander at No. 127 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Logan Brown was the payoff at the 167th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ricky White III in pick No. 243, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on Clay Webb in the 256th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
