The rest of the league had time to spare on Thor Griffith; the Texans did not wait, grabbing him 45 spots ahead at pick 241.
The Restrepo steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a matchup weapon at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter.
They jumped the gun on Tate Ratledge, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Xavier Restrepo at slot 89 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at the Round 4 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Upton Stout at No. 165 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Thor Griffith at the 241st pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
