For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Texans walked out of the weekend still thin at running back, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Phillips. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy little value on Marcus Mbow in Round 2, Pick 26, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Elijah Arroyo, who had no business lasting to pick 89. It fills a real need, too.
A quiet steal in slot 127: Jordan Phillips for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
