Whoever sat across the table from the Texans should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
If Hopper pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Michael Hall Jr. in the 90th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Sataoa Laumea in the 123rd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ty'Ron Hopper. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Zion Tupuola-Fetui in Round 5, Pick 27, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mark Perry in slot 239 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Demorie Tate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
