The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Max Iheanachor, the No. 46 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 4 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The cost of the Haynes reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Kenyon Sadiq at the 38th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Sonny Styles at slot 59 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 69th pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Max Iheanachor in No. 106 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Daylen Everette still on the board at pick No. 141. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Matt Gulbin at pick 167 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
