The 49ers' one glaring miss is wide receiver, a need they left exactly as they found it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The Iheanachor reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Landing Fitzgerald that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Gennings Dunker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Justin Joly in pick No. 127, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A quiet steal in the 133rd overall pick: Bishop Fitzgerald for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Mikail Kamara in No. 138 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Harold Perkins Jr. at pick 139 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
