Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Chase Bisontis got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 106.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Job largely done: running back settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot.
You do not let a wide receiver like Carnell Tate reach pick 38 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caleb Banks at slot 59 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
D'Angelo Ponds at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They barely believed it either: Chase Bisontis still on the board at Round 4, Pick 6. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in pick No. 141, with Oscar Delp worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Beau Stephens in the 167th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
A clean, defensible pick in the 243rd pick with a little surplus value in Jaydn Ott. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
