Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent Round 2, Pick 26 on Jalen Farmer, a name the board had a full 48 spots lower.
However the rest shakes out, Lane at that price is a win they earned. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Farmer this early at No. 58. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Ja'Kobi Lane still on the board at the 127th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Julian Neal in pick No. 133, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Joe Royer at pick 138. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Parker Brailsford in slot 139. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
