The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Caleb Banks, the No. 41 name on the board, in Round 3, Pick 5.
They are betting Prysock proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: running back settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 28 they get a seam-stretching tight end, and a steal at that.
Olaivavega Ioane at pick No. 38 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Anthony Hill Jr. in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Caleb Banks at No. 69 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Sam Hecht higher than Round 4, Pick 6, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, CJ Daniels at the 141st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Ephesians Prysock, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Desmond Reid at the 243rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
