Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Jadarian Price, the No. 70 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 106. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that.
They took Zion Young at par in the 38th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 27 with a little surplus value in Jake Slaughter. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Lee Hunter at the 69th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a running back like Jadarian Price reach slot 106 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Aamil Wagner at No. 167 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 202 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jalen Huskey at pick 243 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
