Call it larceny. Kenneth Grant sat on the board until the 58th overall pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 26 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at the Round 4 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Logan Brown in slot 167. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Chimere Dike in pick No. 243 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
