This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kalel Mullings, the No. 113 name on the board, stolen at No. 167. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They are betting Martin proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Aireontae Ersery graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Terrance Ferguson at No. 117 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
They barely believed it either: Ozzy Trapilo still on the board at pick 131. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A quiet steal in pick No. 136: Darius Alexander for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Kalel Mullings at Round 5, Pick 28 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cobee Bryant at the 179th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Kyle Williams in the 191st overall pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Chimere Dike at pick 205, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Isaac TeSlaa enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 216. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nick Martin at pick No. 243 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kitan Crawford at slot 245 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
