You build a draft on nights like this. Jadarian Price had no business being available in the Round 4 slot, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
Emmanuel Pregnon in the 38th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy bit of business in the 41st overall pick, where CJ Allen graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Eli Stowers at pick 66 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Lee Hunter reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Mike Washington Jr. went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 8. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jake Slaughter at pick No. 101 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Jadarian Price at slot 106 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Davison Igbinosun in No. 110 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Good price on Harold Perkins Jr. in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Louis Moore in Round 5, Pick 27 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
