Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent the Round 7 slot on McKade Mettauer, a name the board had a full 32 spots lower.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Allen steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get juice off the edge, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kingsley Suamataia in slot 59. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Malachi Corley at pick 85 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Cole Bishop went about where he belonged in the 123rd overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaheim Bell a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Braelon Allen at the 164th pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Nathaniel Watson in No. 239; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, McKade Mettauer well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
