The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and A.J. Haulcy fell into Round 3, Pick 8. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel Pregnon. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in No. 48: Anthony Hill Jr. for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
