The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jared Wilson fell into No. 167. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If Griffith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Warren is a better player than slot 25 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Isaiah Bond, who had no business lasting to No. 67. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Cam Skattebo in pick No. 89, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Jack Bech at the 103rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jared Wilson in pick 167 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cam Jackson in the 243rd pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Thor Griffith in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
