The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Daylen Everette slide 27 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in the 38th overall pick, where Peter Woods graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Emmanuel Pregnon in slot 41, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Anthony Hill Jr. at pick No. 59 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Eli Stowers slid further than he should have, and pick 69 is lovely value for the tight end. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mike Washington Jr. in Round 3, Pick 8 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Sam Hecht for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Daylen Everette at the 110th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
J.C. Davis in No. 141 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Beau Stephens in pick 167. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
