Somebody in the 243rd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Kyle Williams, the No. 209 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They will need Majors to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that.
They took Alfred Collins at par in pick 58, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Jake Majors at the 89th pick, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Logan Brown in slot 167. It fills a real need, too.
