The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Jake Majors, the No. 107 name on the board, sitting there at Round 5, Pick 28 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a seam-stretching tight end, and a steal at that.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where T.J. Sanders graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
You do not let a wide receiver like Jack Bech reach Round 3, Pick 25 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in slot 127, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jake Majors in the 167th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
