The Texans bet big and early on Adam Randall, 38 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Miller where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a disruptive interior force. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel Pregnon. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Jake Slaughter in slot 59, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 5, where Christen Miller graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ja'Kobi Lane at the 106th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Oscar Delp at the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They talked themselves into Taylen Green at the 167th pick, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Adam Randall this early at the Round 7 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
