Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Texans came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Knight. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
T'Vondre Sweat at No. 59 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 22, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Tykee Smith in the 90th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Marshawn Kneeland at the 104th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Tyrice Knight, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Javon Foster at slot 127 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jaylen Wright in pick No. 164 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Joshua Cephus in Round 7, Pick 19, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Zion Logue went about where he belonged in pick No. 248. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
