There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Texans started one anyway for Jalin Conyers, 138 picks ahead of schedule. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Landing Emmanwori that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 31 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 26, and they pounced on premier safety value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Alfred Collins slipping to the 66th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Cam Skattebo at pick 90 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Jaylin Noel here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Emery Jones Jr. at slot 168 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, John Williams went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jalin Conyers at pick 256 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
