Houston Texans

No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

The needs board said one thing and the Texans did another, using the Round 4 slot on Cade Stover while running back, edge rusher and other spots waited. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Wilson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 30
In pick No. 23 they get a downhill hitter at safety at fair value. More want than need.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 73
A reach on Johnny Wilson in slot 58; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 90
Braden Fiske at pick 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 120
Khyree Jackson in the 123rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Cade Stover · TE-EDGE · rank 127
They bypassed pressing needs at running back, edge rusher and other spots to take Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE that was not the priority.
