The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 7 slot on Korey Foreman a full 110 spots early. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Landing Starks that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
The Texans clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in pick No. 58, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Barrett Carter at No. 117 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Devin Neal at Round 4, Pick 26 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jake Majors in slot 152 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A wild overpay on Hayden Conner in pick 167, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
DJ Campbell at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kamren Fabiculanan well ahead of where he belonged. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Korey Foreman this early at Round 7, Pick 25. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Garrett Dellinger at pick No. 244, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
