After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Harden falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cost of the Holker reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Ladd McConkey at pick No. 34 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Kiran Amegadjie in No. 68, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dallin Holker in slot 129 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Jarrian Jones at par in Round 5, Pick 1, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board had Luke McCaffrey higher than the 157th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jha'Quan Jackson in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Myles Cole at pick 193, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Myles Harden in No. 231, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
