Start where it matters. The Patriots took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The McGlothern value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Proctor left real value on the table behind him.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Devontez Walker went about where he belonged in No. 68. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Gabriel Murphy is a better player than pick No. 103 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy little value on Ben Sinnott in Round 5, Pick 1, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Dwight McGlothern at the 180th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A quiet steal in slot 193: Jha'Quan Jackson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Josh Proctor enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 231. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
