They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Theo Johnson, 35 picks early at pick No. 101. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Washington. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In the end it comes back to Troy Fautanu, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Troy Fautanu in slot 31. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Darius Robinson at the 36th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Payton Wilson at par in No. 40, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy little value on Javon Bullard in Round 3, Pick 3, a step better than break-even. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A real head-scratcher, Theo Johnson in pick No. 101 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, DJ James at pick 103. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Beau Brade went about where he belonged in the 138th overall pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A tidy bit of business in slot 181, where Luke McCaffrey graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Tahj Washington at pick No. 220 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
