After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 39 with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jermaine Burton in the 47th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Christian Haynes, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Audric Estime in slot 108. It fills a real need, too.
Value with a capital V on Jarrian Jones in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jahdae Barron at No. 185 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
