The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Sonny Styles, the No. 124 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 6 slot like a gift left on the doorstep.

They will need Walley to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots went begging.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
