The Miyan Williams pick is the one that will follow the Patriots into the fall. They took him 61 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. However the rest shakes out, Stover at that price is a win they earned.
The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Xavier Worthy at pick 34 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Xavier Legette at par in the 68th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Cade Stover at Round 4, Pick 3 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Marcus Harris at the 137th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Jefferson at pick No. 180 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Miyan Williams in Round 6, Pick 18 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
They jumped the gun on Josh Proctor, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
